The Linkin Park frontman took his own life on July 20th 2017 in his Californian home. The band cancelled the remainder of their tour following the tragedy. Chester’s friend and fellow musician Chris Cornell also took his own life two months previously with Bennington’s family and bandmates said he had taken Cornell’s death very hard.
“I can’t imagine a world without you in it,” he had written on Instagram upon hearing the news. Mike Shinoda one of Bennington’s band mates in Linkin Park said the singer had been so overcome he was unable to complete a performance of the band’s song “One More Light”, about the death of a friend, both in rehearsals and on live air when they had appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live shortly after Cornell’s death.
His wife Talinda has been offering advice, help and support to people on Twitter and encouraging others to share their stories.
