Comedian and Actor Sean Hughes has died aged 51. His management company confirmed he passed away following a stay in hospital. Although being born in London he spent most of his time growing up in Firhouse, Dublin. He had a small role in the Irish comedy classic The Commitments in 1991 where he played a record producer.
Fans would be familiar with Hughes acting as team captain for the BBC2 music based quiz programme Never Mind The Buzzcocks from 1996 until 2002.
Fellow comedians took to Twitter to pay tribute to their on stage stand-up friend.
Seàn Hughes has died and I'm fucking heartbroken. So funny on stage, so infuriating to know and so sad he's gone. #RIPSeanHughes
